My Canva Vision Board…That’s Already Coming True!

I love a good vision board! An excuse to scroll through Pinterest for a couple of hours and then finish it up with a cut-and-stick craft project? Sign me up! But this year I did things differently. This year, I used Canva to make my vision board.

Yes, I ditched my scissors and brought my 2023 vision board into the modern era. And you know what? It’s already coming true! So let’s talk about how to make a vision board online.

What to Put on a Vision Board

This year, I totally overhauled my vision board technique. I was inspired by one of my absolute favourite content creators – Andrea Casanova – to make this year’s vision board structured and organised as opposed to creative and…erratic.

After all, I’m not trying to attract erratic energy into my life this year! Not again!

So I broke my vision board down into four areas:

  • Finances
  • Work
  • Travel
  • Self-care

You can focus on any areas of your life that you want to change. You can also use this method for more than four areas if that works better for you.

I started by looking for photos and quotes on Pinterest that corresponded with these four areas. I spent time finding images that really jumped out to me. The more interested, excited or emotionally invested you are in these images, the better!

Then for each area, I asked myself, “What limiting belief is holding me back in this area?” (Again, shoutout to Andrea Casanova for this tip!)

I wrote down my limiting beliefs and then I thought of positive affirmations to counter each of those limiting beliefs.

Example:

Area: Finances
Limiting Belief: I'll never make enough money to buy my own house.
Positive Affirmation: My Passions provide for my and I am abundant.

Now I had my images and my positive affirmations ready to put on my vision board, it was time to start creating the vision board on Canva.

How to Make a Vision Board on Canva

Firstly, I want to point out that you can use a free Canva account to create your vision board. But, if you sign up for a Canva Pro account, you’ll get access to more features and elements, which might make designing your vision board a little easier. The pro version isn’t necessary, but you can try it out with a 30 day free trial if you want to give it a go..

Step 1:
Log into Canva and select the dimensions you want to use for your vision board. I used 29.7cm x 42cm (A3 portrait) because that’s what I had space for above my desk.

Step 2:
Pick a grid element and drop it onto your canvas. I couldn’t find a grid that worked for the number of images I had so I used two and resized them so they both fit on the canvas.

Step 3:
Upload your images and add them to the canvas. Group the images into areas to keep things organised and cohesive. Remember, no erratic energy here!

Step 4:
Add your positive affirmations. Once all of your images are in place, add a rectangle shape and lay a text box on top. Type your positive affirmation and position it with the relevant images. Repeat this for each of your positive affirmations.

Step 5:
Print it!
It’s ready to go! You can go to an in-store printing place or use one of the online printing companies and have it delivered straight to your door. I used Snapfish to print mine and I got a nice little discount by using Honey. (Seriously, Honey has saved me so much money over the last few years!)

What to do with Your Vision Board

Now it’s time to hang up your vision board. Choose a space where you’ll see it every day. Then, take a little bit of time each morning or each evening (or both!) to look at the images and read the positive affirmations.
Get excited about the goals you’re working towards! Daydream about it!

And let me finish off this post by letting you know that my 2023 vision board is already working. You see, I put a picture of a highland cow on my vision board (my friend, Bethan, thought I was insane when she saw it). It’s there because I want to visit the Scottish Highlands this year so I can go on a highland cow tour.

Yes…that’s a real thing!

Anyway, last weekend, I went for walk along a walking path that’s close by. I walk there all the time. But last weekend, I rounded the corner and – what do you know?

Highland cows!

And sure, you might be thinking, “Aimée, do you really think you magically manifested some cows?”

And maybe not! But I can tell you this – I feel so happy, excited and uplifted when I saw them. And isn’t that kind of the whole point of a vision board? The goal is to fill your life with joy, right?

Oh, and don’t forget that you can try out Canva Pro for 30 days for free right here!

Hi Rebecca, your approach of creating a vision board on Canva and using positive affirmations to counter each of your limiting beliefs is truly inspiring. By taking the time to visually represent your aspirations and goals, you are able to maintain focus and clarity on what you truly want in life. And by using positive affirmations, you are able to retrain your mind to think positively and overcome any negative self-talk that may have held you back in the past. This combination of a visual representation and positive self-talk is a powerful tool that can help anyone achieve their dreams and live their best life.
