Pivot Jewellery – The Christmas Gift That Gives Back

Recently I shared my sustainable Christmas gift guide for 2020 and you know what I realised? There are some truly amazing brands out there that are doing a lot of good in the world. And we definitely need to be giving them our attention. So today I’m sharing another one – an ethical jewellery brand called Pivot.

Here’s why Pivot’s ethical jewellery makes the perfect Christmas gift…

What is Pivot?

Pivot is a social enterprise that provides part-time, flexible and meaningful employment for people experiencing homelessness, all while creating beautiful jewellery.

Founder, Alex Moxley, spent nearly two years working alongside various organisations such as the YMCA and Crisis, coming up with solutions to help tackle homelessness in the UK. Then she had an idea – why not incorporate her love for creating beautiful things with her passion for helping vulnerable people? The result was Pivot.

Pivot works in homeless hostels across London and Somerset, bringing employment directly to those who often struggle most to find jobs. The result is a stunning collection of statement jewellery with a boho vibe.

And we all know how much I love a boho vibe!

What does my purchase do?

According to research from Shelter, there are 23,000 more people experiencing homelessness  in England now than there were in 2016, bringing the total to 280,000. That’s over a quarter of a million people who don’t have a permanent place to live or, in some cases, are sleeping rough on the streets.

Every purchase you make from Pivot helps support someone who is currently experiencing homelessness and brings them one step closer to permanent accommodation. Each piece is handcrafted and, as a lovely personal touch, the presentation boxes are labeled with the name of the person who made the jewellery inside.

Pivot provides its jewellery makers not just with employment, but also coaching, financial advice and guidance. It gives people the support that can help them make hugely impactful changes in their lives.

What can I buy from Pivot?

Pivot has a selection of dreamy jewellery to choose from. I have fallen in love with this pair of Sal’s Hoops and Ella’s Dove necklace, but honestly, I’ve perused the whole site and every single piece calls out to me.

It’s all beautiful!

Another great gift idea from Pivot this Christmas is their adorable Hugs Soon bookmark. The sale of these bookmarks has raised nearly £1000 for the ‘Homeless Emergency Fund’ and is the perfect prezzie for loved ones you’ve been missing hugs from this year.

Pivot has also rolled out their first ever subscription service. For £125, you’ll receive six pairs of earrings over the course of 2021. That £125 then supports one of Pivot’s workers for an entire month. So not only do you receive six pairs of gorgeous earrings, but your money goes towards making positive change in someone else’s life.

You can look good and feel good!

So if you’re on the lookout for a stunning Christmas gift for someone you love that will support someone experiencing homelessness, look no further than Pivot. Give a gift that gives back.
