Somehow I’ve become the unofficial authority on life in Kuwait. Seriously. People recognise me on the street as ‘that girl from Kuwait’. I only spent 10 months living and working in Kuwait so I definitely don’t have all the answers. But I certainly get a lot of questions! So in today’s post I’m answering the most popular questions I get asked about expat life in Kuwait.

When I was first moving to Kuwait, one question plagued me above all others. It’s the same question I get asked by every woman I meet who’s contemplating living in Kuwait. It’s all-consuming and stress inducing. It’s, “What do I wear in Kuwait?!”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – living in Kuwait is a mixed bag and it’s certainly not for everyone. That said, whether or not you enjoy life in Kuwait doesn’t come down to your gender. A lot of women contact me, asking what life is like living in Kuwait as a woman (Is it safe? Can I walk around alone? What do I wear?) so today I’m answering my most asked questions about what expat life in Kuwait is really like for women.

Moving to a new country is a little like riding a rollercoaster. There are highs, there are lows and sometimes it’s so intense that you feel like you want to be violently sick. I knew that there would be pros and cons of living in Kuwait, just like anywhere else, but I had no idea what those would be. Now that I’ve been on this white-knuckle ride for nine months, I want to share some of the pros and cons I’ve experienced during my time in Kuwait.
