Where Will You Be By This Time Next Year?

In 2021, I hit rock bottom. Like…for real! It felt like someone had tugged on a single, loose thread and suddenly my entire life had unravelled before my eyes. My engagement ended. I had no job. I had to move back in with my parents. Oh, and we were still dealing with a worldwide pandemic. I lost it.

And it looked a little like this…

  • Heartbroken
  • Depressed
  • Daily panic attacks
  • No sense of direction
  • Complete lack of self-esteem
  • Convinced life would never get any better
  • Sad
  • Anxious

Oh…and my eyelashes fell out. Just to add insult to injury, I guess.

I poured what little energy I had into trying to haul myself out of the pit of despair I’d fallen into but nothing seemed to make a difference. I never saw any changes. I always ended up right back where I started.

Then one day I had a tarot reading and the reader kept pulling the same card over and over again – This Time Next Year.

“This time next year what?” She kept asking. And suddenly, something in me clicked. “This time next year my whole life will be completely different,” I told myself.

I stopped focussing on how painful and difficult the present was and set my sights on the future instead. I knew that if I just kept looking forward and putting one foot in front of the other, everything could be completely different by this time next year.

I poured myself into making changes. I worked with a life coach. I read every personal development book I could get my hands on. I listened to the podcasts; I read the psychology articles. And slowly, I came up with a method that just worked.

In just 365 days, I overcame my fear, sadness, and anxiety and I thrived!

  • I became the happiest person I know
  • I travelled solo in Italy
  • I pushed myself out of my comfort zone (seriously – I joined a freaking rollerskating club!)
  • I published a book
  • I accepted a job offer in Vietnam
  • I learned that I am enough and I deserve to live a life that sparks absolute joy in me

And here’s the secret – in its most simple sense, all you need to do to change your life in 365 days is do one small action every day that will bring you closer to your goals.

Sounds simple, right? Well…yeah! It actually is! Incredible things can happen when you just show up every day a take a step in the right direction. Over time, those small, consistent steps add up. And let me be clear here – this isn’t a sprint. It’s a leisurely stroll. It’s meant to be enjoyable. It’s meant to be achievable. And trust me when I tell you that if I can do it, you can do it too!
