This July project pan update is coming to you a little late, but what’s new? The beginning of July marked the start of the summer portion of my project pan. That meant swapping some old products out for shiny new ones and creating a brand new collection of 10 cosmetics products to focus on over the next three months. Spoiler alert: one of them was a complete disaster!
Today I’m going to share my progress with you and we can all ooh and ahh over those oh-so satisfying before and after photos. Well, in the cases where I made visible progress anyway…
So let me introduce the products I’m focussing on for the summer portion of my project pan 2020 and how much of them I used up throughout the month of July.
My July project pan update…
1. Rimmel Kate Sculpting Cosmetic Set
Yes, this blush and highlight duo is still part of my project pan collection. It featured in my winter project pan and my spring project pan and I just couldn’t resist holding onto it as I moved into my summer project pan too. I just can’t seem to call it quits with this thing.
The progress is slow, but steady. It’s difficult to see from the pictures, but there are some pretty noticeable dips in both the blush and the highlight and they get a little bigger each month. I swear I’m not imagining it.
2. Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lipgloss in Flushed
You know what I found out after adding this lipgloss to my project pan list? They don’t even make this lipgloss anymore! That just goes to show how long this has been collecting dust at the back of my drawer.
You know what else I found out after adding this lipgloss to my project pan list? It definitely should not have been discontinued because it’s amazing! A little goes a heck of a long way with this product so it’s very slow progress, but I’ve really been enjoying it.
3. Clinique Long Last Lipstick in Pink Spice
I decided to hang onto this lipstick and bring it forward into my summer project pan challenge. I got quite a lot of use out of it during July and it’s nice to see some progress here.
4. Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Heather Shimmer
I wish I could say the same about my Rimmel lipstick, but I honestly don’t think I picked it up once during the entire month. But it’s still my arch nemesis and I’m determined to finish it up by the end of the year.
5. The Body Shop Hemp Foot Protector
I’m not really a foot lotion kind of person…but I own three different foot lotions. That sums up why I’m doing a no buy year. Clearly, I have a shopping problem. And clearly I need to start using up some of that foot lotion!
I’ve been using this lotion every night before bed (it’s definitely a slippery walk from my dressing table to my bed) and it’s been really nice to wake up to soft tootsies every morning. I’m a big fan!
6. Wet n Wild Coloricon Bronzer in Ticket to Brazil
This bronzer is another one of the products I decided to hold onto and bring forward into my summer project pan. Why? Because look at that satisfying progress! I love watching the pan grow on this thing month after month. Even during the seemingly never-ending lockdown, this is a product I’ve always been able to get consistent use out of…because I’m super pale.
7. Hey Bud Australian Hemp Clay Mask
I tried to use this at least once a week during July and quickly realised that this face mask is a game-changer! It pulls out all the gunk that’s lurking in my pores without drying out my skin. It tackles my crazy face texture and leave my skin feeling super soft.
8. Urban Decay Naked Palette
I’ve dusted off this old cult classic and added it to my summer project pan challenge. Spoiler alert: eyeshadows are very difficult to pan!
I set myself the goal of hitting pan on three new shades from this palette by the end of my summer project pan. So far I’ve made a bit of a dent in Toasted and a little progress with Sidecar…and that’s pretty much it.
9. Soap & Glory Butter Yourself Moisture Lotion
I’m flying through this body lotion! I think the pump has something to do with it, but I also find this lotion a bit thicker than some of my others so I have to use more than I usually would. I’m not a huge fan of the fruity scent (give me something coconut or vanilla infused any day of the week), but it’s getting the job done.
I didn’t snap a picture of this back at the end of June for a side by side comparison, but the sticker on the bottle shows how full it was then. That’s some pretty speedy progress!
10. An unexpected turn of events
At the start of July I added The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit shower gel to the project pan list. Two weeks later I had to kick it back off the list. I just couldn’t deal with the sour smell. It had too much of a B.O quality to me. I mean, who wants to smell sweatier after they shower than they did before?
So at the end of July I decided to switch in the Bath and Bodyworks Bali Blue Surf shower gel instead. It’s a much more enjoyable scent so I’ll be sticking with this until the end of challenge.
So there you have it – my July project pan update in a nutshell…and only a couple of weeks late. I’m pleased with the progress I’m making and I’ve really enjoyed trying out new products and falling back in love with some old ones I haven’t used in a while.

Now, let’s wait and see how much I’m able to use up in August…
