Review: Coco & Eve Like A Virgin Hair Masque

To say that my hair has been through a lot recently is an understatement. The desalinated water here in Bahrain left my hair so dry and brittle that it looked like a cheap wig. Not only that, but I lost nearly four inches of hair when I went for my most recent ‘trim’ because my hairdresser said there was simply no saving it. Terrified that I would be doomed to a life of frizz and ceaseless split ends forever, I ordered the Coco & Eve Like a Virgin Hair Masque. The big question – could it save hair as dry, damaged and pathetic-looking as mine?

Well, with a price tag of $49.90, I certainly hoped so!

First things first, the Coco & Eve hair masque is 100% cruelty free and vegan. Not only that, but it’s packed full of raw virgin coconuts from Bali, essence of fig, linseed (whatever that actually is) and a whole host of other tropical-sounding ingredients. No surprise then that I immediately fell in love with the smell of this hair masque. I’m sure that’s what heaven smells like!

But, while the smell is sublime, the true test of the hair masque was in how well it could deal with my straw-like strands that practically snapped off at the ends each time I ran my fingers through them. The truth is, the results were phenomenal.

After just one twenty minute use, my hair was transformed. It went from resembling a backcombed nylon wig to looking and feeling sleek, soft and shiny. I couldn’t stop running my fingers through it…or prancing around in front of the mirror. I’ve never experienced such immediate and noticeable results from any other product before. End of.

Except not end of really because I still have some things to say.

Each time I used the Coco & Eve hair masque, my brush would glide through my hair without any tangles or tugging. Also, all traces of frizz vanished entirely (seriously, the volume of my hair shrunk by about 50%) and I didn’t even need to heat style it anymore. It just looked beautifully styled all by itself. And, if that’s not enough, it even reduced the appearance of those pesky split ends.

And it made my hair so, so soft. So soft that I forced all my friends to touch it.

The one and only downside of the Coco & Eve hair masque is that it has to be applied after you wash your hair, unlike some of my other favourite masques, which are pre-treatments. I like to let my hair air dry so pre-treatments are more time effective for me. But that doesn’t discourage me from using the Coco & Eve hair masque again even in the slightest.

In fact, I want to use this hair masque for the rest of my life. I’m more committed to this hair masque than I am to my career and at least 50% of my closest friends. I’ve found the holy grail product and I’m never going back!

So sure, $50 might seem like a lot for a hair masque, but the Coco & Eve Like a Virgin Hair Masque is worth every penny. After all, if it can turn my mane of unruly, chlorine-damaged hair into a soft and silky ‘do, imagine what wonders it can do for the average person.
