I’ve been procrastinating for so long with writing my February project pan update that it’s the end of April now. That, my friends, must be a procrastination record! But I’m ready to finally get down to it and update you on my project pan challenge as well as some of the changes I threw in last month to spice things up a little. We may have missed February and March, but here’s my April project pan update.
It turns out that using up 10 makeup projects (most of which you’d forgotten you even owned) isn’t exactly easy. February wasn’t a successful month. At all. In fact, you can see for yourselves by watching my February project pan video over on my Youtube channel.
By the end of March, I was starting to get tired of the seemingly never-ending battle between me and those same 10 makeup products. I was sick of the sight of most of them and let’s not even get stated on how much I’d grown to loath my Too Faced Born This Way foundation. To keep my sanity in check, I decided to switch out some of my project pan products for fresh, new ones and change tact with the challenge. From now on, I’ll be changing out products at the end of each season. And I promise I’ll do a better job of keeping you informed.
“But what’s the progress look like?” I hear you cry. Well, it looks like this…
1. Rimmel Kate Sculpting Cosmetic Set
There are some definite dips appearing in both the blush and the highlight, but I honestly expected more notable progress after three months of continuous use. This product clearly provide a lot of bang for your buck and I think it’s going to be a while before I get the satisfaction of glimpsing any pan on these.
2. L’oreal Colour Riche Lipstick in 632
Sadly, I didn’t make much progress with this lipstick and decided to kick it to the curb at the end of March, replacing it with my Revlon Balm Stain in Honey.
2.2. Revlon Balm Stain in Honey.
The Revlon Balm Stains and I go way back (side note: doesn’t that make it sound like I’m old friends with an indie band?), but Honey is my all time favourite. It’s a little pinker than I’d like for an everyday nude, but it’s still very wearable and I love how long-lasting it is. However, it hasn’t gotten a huge amount of attention this month because I’ve been really focusing my energy on my Rimmel lipstick instead.
3. Clinique Long Last Lipstick in Pink Spice
I’m still chipping away at this one and getting slow, but steady results. Very slow. Note to self: stop using lipstick so that they become pointy at the top and therefore practically impossible to apply.
4. Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Heather Shimmer
Ok, this one I’m proud of. I’ve managed to get this lipstick down to the last little nub and I’m confident that I’ll be able to use up the rest before the Spring portion of my project pan challenge is over. I’m so committed to panning this lipstick that it’s become borderline obsessive.
5. Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Swan
It’s the foundation that just won’t die! Honestly, I could have tried harder to use more by mixing it in with other, darker foundations I have, but it’s so oily on my skin that I just didn’t want to. It makes me look like a patchy swamp creature and, even safe within the confines of quarantine, that’s not the way I want my face to look. Needless to say, I switched it out for something less…greasy.
5.2. The Body Shop Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation in Dune
This is on the complete opposite spectrum from the Born This Way foundation. That’s too pale while this is a little too dark, that’s too oily while this is a little too matte. Is this how Goldilocks feels when she goes shopping for makeup?
6. No 7 Stay Perfect Foundation in Beige Ivory
I made absolutely no progress with this. I didn’t even pull it out of the drawer. It’s still too dark for me (you know, since I can’t leave the apartment and am essentially becoming a Morlock) so I decided to trade it out for something I’d get more use out of.
6.2. Wet n Wild Coloricon Bronzer in Ticket to Brazil
Where did this come from? How long have I owned it? How did I never notice it in the drawer before? Questions we will never know the answer to. I decided to introduce this into my new everyday makeup routine and see how I liked it. The verdict: it’s just fine.
7. Wet n’ Wild Mega Length Mascara
Not being able to actually see the progress with this was very frustrating so I ended up making the decision to swap it out in favour of my Victoria’s Secret fragrance mist.
7.2. Victoria’s Secret Fragrance Mist in Dream
What I love most about this is that it’s something I can still get a lot of use out of during lockdown, even on the days when I don’t want to put on makeup…or clothes…or get out of bed.
8. Urban Decay Primer Potion
This was another product I couldn’t get any satisfaction from so I swapped it for the Bath & Bodyworks body lotion in A Thousand Wishes.
8.2. Bath & Bodyworks Body Lotion in A Thousand Wishes
I love this scent! This has been an easy product to make progress with and use on a daily basis.
9. Revolution Fine Line Correcting Serum
I’m still chipping away at this and making one solid progress. Hopefully I’ll be able to get through the rest of it by the end of the Spring portion of my project pan challenge, but we’ll see. A little goes a long way, which makes it a little harder to use up, but slow progress is better than no progress.
10. Wild Mint Green Tea Clay Mask
Hurray! Some solid, notable progress. Finally! This one, I’m proud of.
There are a few definite success stories scattered amongst my April project pan update. There are also some undeniable failures. But the main thing is that I’m finally getting around to using products that otherwise would have stayed forgotten about in the back of a drawer. Plus, I’m really enjoying the strange satisfaction of watching the product levels goes down, slowly but surely. So let’s see how I get on with my project pan challenge in May…I promise I’ll actually update you this time.
