2023 Project Pan Challenge | Update #1

Why I’m doing a 2023 project pan challenge.

So here’s the thing – way back at the start of 2020, I realised I had a major problem. I had nearly 400 beauty products shoved into drawers and collecting dust in cabinets. I had a small fortune’s worth of makeup stockpiled as if some kind of blush-related apocalypse was looming on the horizon.

I needed to do something…

So I did a no-buy year and then a low-buy year and, slowly but surely, my makeup hoard started to get under control. But it wasn’t enough to just stop buying new products. I had to use up the ones I already had too.

So I started doing project pan challenges where I’d choose products from my collection that I wanted to use up and then share the progress every month on my Youtube channel.

And this year is no exception. This year’s project pan challenge is to use up 23 products in 2023. Ambitious? Yes! Possible? …Maybe yes!

So here’s how my 2023 project pan challenge is going so far…

NYX Baked Blush – Wanderlust

Apparently, this blush isn’t even for sale, which really says a lot about how long I’ve been trying to use up my blush collection.

I’d already hit pan on this one before starting the project pan challenge, which gave me a nice headstart. Now it’s just a case of using it every day to use up what’s left.

Physician’s Formula Bronze Booster – Light to Medium

This is my favourite bronzer of all time and I’ll be sad to see it go. On the other hand, I’ll be thrilled to have one less bronzer in my makeup collection. Let’s focus on the positives, I guess.

NYX Pore Filler Primer

This used to be my go-to primer but, as I’ve gotten older (eek!), my skin had changed and it just isn’t the best fit for me anymore. I promise I did use this throughout January but I guess I didn’t use enough for it to show on the scales.

Tresemmé Split Remedy

This used to be my go-to hair serum but then I found the Coco & Eve Like a Virgin Miracle Hair Elixir and suddenly I never wanted to use another serum for as long as I lived! But I still need to finish what’s left of this one so I can gain a little more space in my haircare drawer.

Alas! No progress in the first month of the project pan challenge (because I completely forgot to use it) but we’re only one month in and there’s plenty of time left.

Dove Essential Care Hand Cream

When I was filling out my 2023 cosmetics inventory (because I am a spreadsheet nerd), it became clear that I still have an excessive amount of hand creams. I need to get that under control.

I’m finally down to my last foot cream. And if the question is, “Why did you have so many foot creams in the first place?” I actually have no idea.

The Body Shop British Rose Body Yoghurt

It always takes me an infuriatingly long time to use up any kind of body lotion, simply because I always forget that it exists. This one is no exception.
